I don't think I can make it to the ballet class Wednesday because of my 11-1220 class prior to... so I decided to watch some ballet videos and do some sketches (I felt a little creepy).
The bottom one is supposed to be one person, twirling over time.

  1. I think these are great! They really capture the movement of the ballerinas and the motion lines are great and very useful. Maybe just a line or two in the face to let us know what direction she is facing.

  2. Alex,
The movement in these drawings is nice - try to look for a few things when making gesture drawings:
    - Unless the subject has oddly shaped limbs, they should always taper from the hip down to the ankle, and from the shoulder to the wrist. They will only open up slightly at the hands and feet - unless you're making a really cartoonish figure.
    - The head will always be larger around the cranium. Look at Walt Stanchfield's book for reference on a quick way to draw a head - it's two ellipses, basically.
Think about choosing drawings that go from left to right, have overlap and incorporate a simple indication of faces.
